Winter 2012: First Impressions (Natsume Yuujinchou Shi, Kill Me Baby & Recorder and Randsell)
So here we are, the start of another season. Time to see if all that judgmental nonsense I spouted in my preview is actually true! As usual I generally check out the first episode of practically everything, and if I can see any kind of potential in a show I’ll give it another 2-3 episodes to persuade me one way or another.
I’m kicking things off with an old favourite, a strange short, and something I hated every second of…..Natsume Yuujinchou Shi, Kill Me Baby and Recorder and Randsell.
The Top Ten Series – Best of 2011 (Movie/OVA/ONA)
Okay, part two of my yearly review, today we’re covering Movies/OVAs/ONAs etc. I actually had quite a lot of trouble with this list as I feel like I’ve watched a lot more movies/OVAs than usual this year – it was difficult to cut the list to ten. But cut I did and here it is………usual disclaimer of my including stuff that got subbed in 2011 rather than released applies.
The Top Ten Series – Best of 2011
So for productivity on the blog 2011 wasn’t a good year for me – however that didn’t mean that I didn’t watch an awful lot of anime; Cara watches all of the things! I picked up 63 shows this year (11 are still on-going) – yet despite that rather large number it was remarkably easy to pick a Top Ten! When compared to 2010 I feel that 2011 wasn’t as good – the number of quality shows was probably superior in 2011, but I have stronger feelings for the good 2010 shows (Drrr!!, Katanagatari, Arakawa, Shiki, FMA:B etc). Still 2011 had some great shows that managed to crack into my Top 50 – so that’s a very good thing!
For this list I take into consideration all shows that ended their run in 2011 – most of them will run entirely within 2011 though. The Top Ten movies/OVAs/ONAs will be in a separate post that I haven’t written yet.
2011 in review – blog update
So it’s 2012, time to start the usual reminiscing about the previous year. 2011 wasn’t the best year for me, and especially not for this blog – poor neglected thing got majorly sidelined due to my health issues that really made themselves known this year. Since I’m still not great, and have no clue when I will be firing on all cylinders again, 2012 will be starting off in a rather subdued manner. However I really do want to get back into the swing of things soon, it’s really been horrible not being able to write when I want! Jan 2012 also marks Caraniel’s Ramblings 2nd birthday as a proper blog rather than just an archive – it’s a major milestone for many bloggers and I really want to make it to a 3rd year!
Anyway WordPress have sent out their yearly report, and when compared to 2010′s it’s very apparent that I’ve had a rather meh year regarding productivity! Here’s hoping 2012 brings us all great things (and that the world survives to see 2013!)
