About
Suppose I should really use this space to ramble about myself a bit……..as if anyone would be interested!
I’m the wrong side of 25, hail from Northern Ireland and have spent way too much of my free time watching foreign cartoons. The interest began back when I was about 16, when I started taking note of shows like Dragonball Z, Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon and Tenchi Muyo (as well as the obligatory Pokemon & Digimon) airing on TV. I liked the artstyle and energy the shows had and was interested enough to scrimp up my pitiful wages for the DVD boxsets. And then I went to Uni and completely forgot about anime for three years (aside from the box sets that came with me).
Upon graduation I found myself jumping from job to job & with way too much free time on my hands, so I decided to see if I could find any shows similar to those foreign cartoons I had so enjoyed. I booted up YouTube watched things like InuYasha, Rurouni Kenshin, Naruto, Fruits Basket and Elfen Lied. When that resource started to dry up I discovered the world fansubs & torrents and promptly developed an incurable addiction. The rest is history – I have spent 8 months of my life watching anime so far……..and I don’t regret it at all……well not much!
The next natural step for me was blogging. I had been writing short reviews and season previews for a forum for a while and decided that I should probably start archiving some of these externally – which lead to Caraniel’s Ramblings being opened in July 2009. At first this blog was a simple archive for my reviews (and outlet for my temper when I got pissed off at work), but in the Winter season of 2010 I decided to try my hand at episodic blogging…….and here I am! Due to ill-health I’m not the best at keeping a regular schedule, but I have absolutely no intention of quitting writing any time soon – it’s too much fun to give up!
Anyway, this is turning into an essay. I’m always happy to hear from people, so either drop me a line here, or e-mail me at – caraniel@hotmail.com.
