Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu – 03

January 22, 2010

I like the direction this is going ^_^

So this episode is titled ‘Food Expenses, Dates and Stun-guns‘ and thats basically what it’s all about – I do love self-explanatory titles 😛

So Akihisa and Yuuji are paying their dues and taking their respective female admirers to the movies for a date.  Akihisa is more concerned about the fact all his food expenses are going down the drain thanks to the extortionate prices and the fact he has two girls to keep happy, whereas Yuuji is more than a bit worried about the fact Shouko may kill him if he doesn’t comply with her wishes 😀

Its a sad state of affairs when you have to ration cup noodles

Shouko knows what she wants - Yuuji should just give in (or he may not live very long)

This episode was amusing and I am glad that it wasnt stuck in the school or centred on a Summons Battle – its nice to see the characters in a Dayto situation (although Akihisa is so dense that he doesn’t seem to realise these are dates).  Shouko’s dedication to spending alone time with Yuuji is admirable (and a touch scary), would love to know where she got the stocks, chain and stun-gun from 😀

I do like the little background extras - that fountain, the dragon shadow and the cinema price list all made me giggle

Of course there was the usual running gags of Shimada causing Akihisa pain with her wresting prowess and Vouyer-kun’s photography skills – but they’re still done with enough originality that they havent gotten old just yet – hopefully this continues to be the case.

That girl is freakishly strong - she's holding Akihisa up with one hand!!

I also enjoyed Vouyer-kun swooping in to exploit Akihisa’s vunerbility stupidity to sell him a pic of Hideyoshi in his Round Girl costume from last episode…….especially since Hideyoshi was standing beside him at the time facepalming 🙂

Truly the best characters in this series

During Akihisa’s 2nd date with Shimada and Himeji, Drill-hair Fang-tan shows up again…….I really don’t like this girl, but she’s got some skills with cutlery!  I havent seen anyone throw a fork like that since Sebastian in Kuroshitsuji!

Dayto interrupted

Of course fleeing from Drill-hair’s murderous lesbian rage sends our threesome barreling straight into the resident Trap and a cosplay opportunity……..for the fellas!

The difference is Hideyoshi makes this look good.

Drill-hair's yuri senses are not fooled by Meido Akihisa

Of course its a rule that there has to be at least one Summons Battle per episode so they decide to lead Drill-hair to the school and fight it out.

Seriously wee boy - waaay too into this dress thing.

Shimada and Drill-hair end up in supplementary classes with Ironman-sensei, where no doubt Shimada will be fending off Drill-hair’s yuri advances.

I’ve saved my favourite bit of the episode to the end; Akihisa’s new harem member – Kubo from the A class brings the yaoi-factor to Akihisa’s harem, Cara is pleased with this new development!  Kubo even goes a step further than Himeji and Shimada by actually writing a love letter and having it make its way into Akihisa’s hands (accidentally and unsigned unfortunately)…….suddenly the BL themed ED makes perfect sense 😀

Kubo - catering to the fujoshi

So three episodes down and I’m still entertained – this is good going for a comedy.  Inner Yaoi Fangirl is most pleased by the addition of a male to Akihisa’s harem, BakaTest really is doing its very best to appeal to all sides of the fandom….I’m wondering what they are going to introduce next!

Because my desk at home is actually properly kitted out, and I can take my time writing? Plus there’s no number intensive data processing to do 😛 I’m fine typing small amounts – its 6 hours non-stop number crunching that kills me.

I didnt know you looked at my blog Juno 🙂

I kind of wish there were more summon battles. It’s what I like most about the previous two eps. Well, at least it’s funny.

I find the Summon Battles a bit repetitive so was pleased there was only one this week……although the little avatars are cute so its amusing to watch them fight.

I totally agree about Drill Hair girl. She’s freakin annoying. Anyways I agree with your comments on the jokes, but you’ve got to admit that they’re hilarious
